What to do in Amsterdam in 3 Days

A 3 day break in Amsterdam is ideal to visit and get to know the Dutch capital. Full of charm, the city will delight you with its canals, its vast array of museums and its vibrant nightlife. Roomlala has drawn up a quick itinerary to make sure you don’t miss the best of Amsterdam.

Day 1: the city centre and canals

Amsterdam is best discovered by foot or, as the locals prefer to travel, by bike. To start off your trip, we suggest a visit to the centre of the city, dropping by The Begijnhof, Dam Square, the Royal Palace and the famous Red Light District, where you’ll meet the rest of the city’s tourists. End your first day in Amsterdam with a walk around the Rembrandtplein. You could also take a boat ride and see the city from its canals.

Day 2: park, brunch, boutiques

The Vondelpark in Amsterdam is widely known, often called the ‘green lung’ of the city. Take a stroll in the green oasis within the city, from which you can admire the swanky parts of town which surround the park. After a quick (or long) brunch stop, check out ‘De 9 Straatjes’ (the 9 Streets) where you can shop to your heart’s content while surrounded by gorgeous architecture. To end the day, lose yourself in the atmospheric Jordaan quarter and make sure to visit Anne Frank’s house, one of the city’s most important sites.

Day 3: time for some culture

For your final day in Amsterdam, head to the Museumplein where you will find the the famous ‘I amsterdam’ sign. Take some time to visit some of the unmissable museums the city has to offer, such as the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum, a museum dedicated to the history, crafts and fine arts of the Netherlands. Conclude your stay with a breathtaking view across the city from the NEMO Science museum.
