What to Do in Berlin in 3 Days

Berlin, the German capital, located in the northeast of the country, is a city full of charm with its mix of both historical and modern landmarks and attractions. Berlin has reinvented itself, now becoming the epicentre of new musical trends and nightlife. If you want to explore the city, then we've suggested how to do it in just 3 days.

1st Day in Berlin: Visit the main tourist attractions

Berlin is a vast city- the geographical area of Berlin is immense, so we recommend that you plan your journey around the city in advance, to avoid getting lost. Start your first day with breakfast in Sphere Berliner Fernsehturm, at the famous Alexanderplatz TV tower. In the heart of Mitte, the historical centre of Berlin, you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape from 270 meters high. Consider taking a stroll down Unter den Linden Boulevard. Here you'll be able to visit Humbolt University, the Opera House, and the Adlon Hotel. The Memorial to The Murdered Jews of Europe is also in close proximity, along with the Brandenburg Gate, which is the iconic landmark of the Berlin Wall. After, why not head on down to the Bundestag, and then to Friedrichstadtpassagen to do a bit of shopping. We also recommend that you visit the famous Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is guaranteed to be one of the highlights in your trip to Berlin.

2nd Day in Berlin: Do some shopping!

On the 2nd day, depending on the location of your accommodation, you can take the metro to Pergamon Museum. After that, take a stroll along the streets of Prenzlauer Berg, a well known trendy Berlin neighbourhood. You can then head to Stadmitte, where you can visit Checkpoint Charlie, another famous landmark of the Berlin Wall. In the afternoon, we recommended that you visit the boutiques on the streets of Kastanienallee and Oderberger Strasse so as you can do some well deserved shopping. You can also head to the Mauerpark flea market. After, head to Oranienburger Strasse, a street in which the Berlin Wall ran though, and is well known as the point of escape for many of those fleeing East Berlin. Before going back to your accommodation, take some time to enjoy the evening around Oranienburger Strasse.

Your final day in Berlin can be spent enjoying the various forms of art and history that Berlin has to offer. Take a trip to the Topography of Terror, an indoor and outdoor museum which was once the headquarters of the Gestapo and the SS during the Nazi regime. We recommend that you also take a look at the East Side Gallery, a 1.3km stretch of the Berlin Wall, which is covered in art representing international freedom. In the afternoon take a stroll around the Turkish neighbourhood which offers breathtaking street art. Spend your last evening at the River Spree, this former industrial port is one of the most festive places in Berlin.
